Fabulous Friday

This has been a busy morning for me.  I got my hair done, back to the original color, got the oil changed in my truck.  And now I'm sitting listening to the rain hit the windows.  Such a soothing sound.  Such great napping weather.  Anyway, the babes and I have a full weekend planned.  Soccer, mowing, Sunday morning breakfast at our favorite restaurant and possibly a movie.  There's nothing like the weekends to get some much needed rest, hang out, do a few projects and maybe do some reading.  Have a great, safe and wonderful weekend!

I LOVE Cattle!

Yesterday I spent the whole day in the barn.  I haven't done that in a while.  Lily has been out with the heifers being the cow she needs to be.  So that means that I took the time away from the show barn to get some much needed projects done.  Night before last Lily came back to the show barn.  So yesterday was a spa day for her.  She is once again fluffy, poop free, fly free and much better smelling.  And she loved every minute of it.  She actually napped while I blew here out.  I love being in the barn with the cattle.  I love watching them graze, nap and chase each other.  I love going to cattle sales and cattle shows.  I love talking to people about cattle.  I love learning as much as I can about cattle.  Okay I'm obsessed! lol  So here are a few of my favorite photos I have taken of one of my many loves.  I will be okay.  Happy Thursday!

Wonderful Wednesday!

Things are crazy around here.  It's been raining, which I'm grateful for since there are so many that don't have have the rain.  Things are in full swing with the change in season.  And that means lots to do to get ready for winter.  Mr. Ms dad had a tumble off a quad last weekend.  So he will be taking it easy for at least 6-8 weeks.  So that means everyone is gonna have to step up a little more. And the kids schedules are in full swing.  So there's lots of running to do.  And then there's a few shows coming up.  There's never a dull moment and I wouldn't have it any other way.  Have a great Wednesday!

It's Friday

The weekend is almost upon us.  There are soccer games, barn work, yard work, and all the things that go in the middle to do.  I save some of these things for the weekend when the babes are home.  Little Man can drive the skid loader and Little Miss can drive the quad.  Sometimes that's more help than it sounds.  They can move things for me and are helping while getting to do things they like.  It's a win, win for everyone.  I'm not sure how much will get done this weekend.  It started raining last night and is supposed to rain till Tuesday.  But there is a plan to get Little Man's room painted and carpets cleaned.  So it may be a fly by the seat of our pants kind of weekend.

                                                       Happy Weekend to everyone!

My View

This is what I see when I look out my kitchen window.  This is the view I love.  I love seeing the heifers, grazing, running and napping in the sun.  I love seeing Hank watching the cows.  I know he's wishing that he could chase them.  But he's 12 now.  He is retired.  I love the view from my window.  This is where I start my day and sometimes end my day.  This is where I think as I watch.  This is calming to me.  What's your view look like?
Happy Thursday To All of YOU!

Prayers for another farmwife~

I started blogging for many reasons.  But I have made many friendships and connections through the journey that I started in 2008.  And one of the many wonderful people that I have met is Leontien.  She came to the United States  from the Netherlands.  And she came with a dream to run a dairy with her family.  Ride her beloved stallion.  And drive her care fast.  She has fought this battle once and won.  And now once again she if fighting.  When she goes to her appointments she wears special panties to feel empowered.  So I ask all of my friends and family to take a moment to say a prayer for her.  And to stop by her Facebook page: Love for Leontien, to send her some well wishes and let her know that you were thinking of her.

Cancer has touch so many people in so many ways.  The power of prayer is an amazing thing.  And showing your love and support can help more than anything.  So I say a big thank you.  Have a wonderful day. And hug the ones you love and tell them how you love them.  Life is short and sweet.  Cherish each and every moment..

Bad Hair Days

This cow looks how I feel sometimes.  Covered in sh**, hair all a mess and thinking what's next!  We are done with our family sale.  Soccer has started.  Mr. M is busy with work.  There's calves to wean.  Show calves and sale calves to start.  We are going to different sales looking for new show calves for the kids.  There's outside projects to get done.  And the holidays will be here before I'm ready for them.  But I sure do like the business of it all.  I would be bored if I wasn't running around.  We are very blessed.  And when things get hard I remind myself of how lucky we are.  Have a great, safe weekend!

Tired Babes..

Our family of four and Mr. M's brother JD and his family of four is having our show cattle sale tomorrow.  The two families have been working steadily with all the calves to have them ready for their new homes after the sale.  The calves are at JD's so that all the calves are in one place for viewing.  So every day when Mr. M gets off work he stops by to lend a hand.  Luckily it is on his way home.  The calves are sooo much calmer now that they get ran through the chute several times a day.  Their is less kicking, trying to run through gates, trying to run away from all of us and they know the routine now.  We would like to Thank everyone who took the time out of their day to come visit and look at the calves.  And we can't wait to see this set of calves later in the show season in the show ring.  Happy Thursday!

Tribute To Troy..

Today Troy Williams was laid to rest.  Troy is the grandfather to my SIL Miss M and great-grandfather to our beautiful niece and nephew. Troy was a very kind and gentle man.  I myself only got to meet him once.  But it only took once to have a great respect for him.  He was such a calm and peaceful man.  He loved his family and had a very good and special love for God.  So here are a few photos I wanted to share.  My Little Miss took all but one.

Cancer is a thing that has been touching so many lives.  My heart breaks sometimes for the people that I know who have had it, known someone who has it or like me who has lost someone.  There is no rhyme or reason as to why, what or who is affected by it.  All you need to do is cherish each moment with the ones you love.  Take it all in.  Love them strongly.  And take the time to  capture it.  Martina McBride has the best song to describe it.."I Will Love You Through It"  I send hugs out to everyone and tell those close to you how you feel.  God Bless You!

She's Rotten!

Possum is growing so fast.  And she is rotten as the day is long.  I remember now why I hadn't had a female for so long.  She's aggressive, gets into everything and does not like to mind.  But I have a hard time staying mad at her when she's so stinkin cute.  Her favorite thing right now is getting in the shop and getting into the graphite.  She and her partner in crime have been black for a week now.  It has stained her white hair.  So we will keep working with her and try and keep her on the straight and narrow.  Happy Holiday weekend to everyone!

Our First Family Cattle Sale.

This year Mr. M and his brother JD decided they had enough good show calves to have a family sale.  So they created Dawson Show Cattle.  I have decided that maybe going to a sale is way more fun then putting one on.  But we have learned a lot, made some great memories and met some really nice people. Here are the photos of the calves we are selling.  If you know anyone looking send them to the website.  www.dawsonshowcattle.com  hosted by Caldwell & Willoughby on September 9th.  Thank you!
